Problem: If your iPad all of a sudden stops working oncampus, it is most likely because your subscription to the network has expired.
It MUST be renewed every 30 days.
Symptoms: no email access, can’t print, can’t surf the web, but the wireless icon is still active.
Solution:
Open up a web browser window.
Surf to an OFF-CAMPUS website you’ve never visited before. Perhaps HamSandwichTees.com, or ShadowSoundStudio.com, or Macon.com… well, you get the idea. It MUST be off-campus, and MUST be somewhere you’ve never visited before.
Anywhere on campus, you can call up the print menu [look for the “export” icon – a rectangle with an arrow coming OUT of it] and you should be able to print. What printers are available depends on what network you are signed on to [Student, Staff, etc.]
YES, you can print from your ipad at home, but you must have a wireless network active at the house, and your ipad must be connected to it.
1.
If you have an Airprint-capable printer with a wireless option, your iPad should be able to see the printer.
2.
If you have a Mac desktop running 10.6 or newer, you can purchase and install HandyPrint [CLICK HERE]. That software turns your Mac into an Airprint server, so the iPad can see the printer.
3.
If you have a desktop running Windows 7 or newer, CLICK HERE for an article about setting up your machine. It does involve downloading Airprint Service Installer – but the article walks you through the process.
