Moving Pictures around

If you have pictures/videos and need to move them around, here are a couple of processes.

To get a photo from Drive to Camera Roll:
• On the iPad, open up the Drive app.
• Click on the filename to view it.
• Click on the image – a dialogue box should pop up.
• Click “Save image”.

The file is copied over to the camera roll.
To get a photo from Drive to Photoshop [or another app]:
• On the iPad, open up the Drive app.
• Click on the “i” icon, to the right of the filename.
• Click “Open In” icon, select Photoshop or the app of your choice.
To get a photo from Camera Roll to Google Drive:
• On the iPad, open up the Drive app.
• Navigate to the folder where you want to stash the photos. Create a new folder if needed.
• Click the + icon, top right.
• Select “Upload Photos or Videos”
• Click on the files you want to upload. You’ll see a blue checkmark on the ones you select.
• When done, click the bigger blue checkmark at the top of the window. Wait a minute – or several minutes if you have selected a whole bunch  of files to upload.
NEVER assume they got uploaded – always doublecheck!

iMovie – tips for creating

Quick notes for how to create an excellent iMovie:

CONTENT IS THE WHOLE POINT
All the special effects and jazzy stuff on the planet
can’t make up for zero content.

Production Process:

  1. PLAN / Outline – do this on paper. Get a list of what you want to say, and what shots/footage/audio you’ll need.
  2. Gather Material – collect all your parts. Take notes on paper, listing what you’ve collected. Seriously, this will save you TONS of time and aggravation.

I suggest using the Camera app to shoot your material instead of using iMovie. It’s faster.

  3. Start iMovie Project
  4. Import Material – from the camera roll, or wherever else you’ve stashed it.
  5. Editing – making all the parts fit

    Clips added/arranged/changed

    Add transitions

    Add special effects

    Add titles

    Add/edit audio [check volume levels!]

HELP is your friend!

So is a web search [Could search “iMovie iPad how add narration”, for example]

Kindle App – setup

Students – you will be receiving [if you haven’t already received it!] an email with your kindle account information.

Here is how to setup the Kindle app on your iPad.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER SET UP THE KINDLE APP BEFORE:

• Open up the app. You should see this screen:

Kindle start

• Type in the account info given to you in the email, and login.

• You might have to click the “sync” button, at the bottom of the screen, to get the material to download:

IF YOU ALREADY SETUP YOUR KINDLE APP WITH A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT:

You will have to “deregister” the app. This will NOT delete whatever you have purchased from Amazon – those items are still “in the cloud”, inside your Amazon account. They will just disappear from your iPad. Here’s how:

• Fire up the Kindle App.

• Click the Settings icon:

settings kindle icons

•  Click “Update”, next to your email address:

settings kindle

•  Then click the “Deregister” button.

You should be taken to the beginning screen, where you can add your MDS kindle account information.
