When Aleks refuses to work, here are some things to check.
FIRST
Aleks provides a “check your setup” screen to help in checking these settings. Click on the link below to have Aleks review your settings.
https://www.aleks.com/support/troubleshooting
You WILL NEED to click on the RED button found at the bottom of this screen to complete the check of your iPad.
BOTTOM LINE – all circles should be GREEN, including the pop-ups . Alex will not run correctly with any red circles with x’s in them.
SECOND: COMMON ERRORS
Error with CACHE
Go to the home screen. Click on the settings icon. On the left side, scroll down and find SAFARI (about halfway down) and click on this setting. On the right side, scroll down and find “Clear History and Website Data” and click on this setting. (Initially the text in this setting will be blue in color, after you click on it, it will turn gray)
Error with POP-UPS
Go to the home screen. Click on the settings icon. On the left side, scroll down and find SAFARI (about halfway down) and click on this setting. On the right side, scroll down and find Block Pop-ups – make sure the button to the right is gray .
ONCE YOU HAVE MADE THOSE CHANGES:
Logout out of Aleks. Double click on the home button and swipe out of all open apps (INCLUDING ALEKS). Press and hold the hibernation button (upper right) until the “slide to power off” screen appears. Swipe to power off. Wait 5-8 seconds. Turn on iPad – press and hold the hibernation button until you see the Apple logo. Enter your passcode to move to the home screen. Load ALEKS to start again!
What to do if ALEKS is misbehaving on your iPad
If ALEKS is not working on your iPad, here are some things to check.
Are you on the network? Trying visiting a website you haven’t been to in a month, or one you’ve never visited [hamsandwichtees.com , for example].
Make sure you are on the CORRECT network: MDS-student for upper school, MDS-middle for middle school.
Have you tried using a different browser? You have three to choose from [Safari, Chrome, Firefox are all installed on your iPad. DuckDuckGo and Brave are also available on the App portal ].
Have you done the iPad Reboot Dance in the last week? If not, do it.
Visit the ALEKS troubleshooting site . Run the diagnostics by clicking the button.
Typically Popups are blocked on the iPad. If the ALEKS troubleshooting site indicates that your popups are blocked, see these articles that tell you how to allow popups.
