Software DOES scale oversized pix to fit, but it will stretch things, so better to give it the correct size to begin with.
Once you add a file to the correct directory, you MUST send it down to the scoreboard CPU before it can be used. Client –> Display –> there’s a button to sync the directories.
Hardware – there’s a capture card in the back of the machine. It does take composite and s-video input. That’s for any live input to the scoreboard [i.e. from the Tricaster].
On field camera – have to adapt the camera output cable to the cable connector. Boxes are in the ground on the sidelines. There’s also one on the wall at the 50 yard line….and cables running down from the top of the pressbox. Nothing is labelled, of course.
Cabling:
Camera –> adaptors –> cable –> on-field box
pressbox cable –> Tricaster
Tricaster output –> video input on back of sign CPU [use composite/RCA – no point in doing s-video]
File storage:
Files you want to use MUST be placed LOOSE in the correct directory. The SW does NOT understand directories, no keeping things organized. There should be a shortcut on the desktop – I can’t remember the exact name or location. Seems like it is located in the programs folder for prismview.
3 pieces of software: Prismview Client PV9, Player, System. These three are pinned to the start menu.
On startup you have to manually start all three. I suggest this order: System, Player, Client – but the order MAY not be important.
SYSTEM – monitors the CPU in the scoreboard. You can leave it minimized.
PLAYER – more stats and such from the scoreboard CPU. Also shows the preview on the monitor, which is not movable nor resizable [unless I’m missing something].
CLIENT – where most of the work is done.
CLIENT overview:
Box on left shows all usable files inside the media directory.
Tabs at top:
Display – used to transfer copies of new files down to the scoreboard CPU.
Instant Play – where you click a file and it gets played.
The other tabs are not used.
Instant play Overview
main window has slots [“layouts”] to hold file references. Drag a file from the left window into a slot. When you click on that slot, the file gets played.
Layouts area at bottom is where you setup multiple layouts. CAN have a file appear in multiple layouts. That area is also where you set what happens when you click – the file plays just once, loops X times or forever, etc.
PLAY LIVE button – switches to the live feed [i.e. from the Tricaster].

HOW DO I BACKUP MY PICTURES/NOTABILITY NOTES?
Pictures/Videos
On your iPad:
Go through your pictures and delete everything you don’t want to keep.
Make sure your Google Drive App is setup –> Fire it up, and login if it asks you to.
If you’ve never backed up your pictures:Create a new folder. Call it “2014 pix” – or whatever you like. Open it up.
If you HAVE backed them up before: open up the folder you used before.
See the big plus sign in the upper right corner? Click it.
Click “Upload Photos or Videos”
Click “Camera Roll”
Click 4 or 5 rows of pictures/videos – you should see a blue checkmark show up on the picture icon.
[If you do too many – say, 100 pictures – it will take much longer and might crash]
THEN click the bigger blue checkmark at the top right corner.
You should see a message {1 of 5 files uploading} show up at the bottom of the screen.
Keep going until you get everything uploaded.
Notability notes
Fire up Notability.
On the opening screen, click the GEAR icon, bottom left.
Click the Auto-Backup Button
Click the Google Drive button.
Login, YES give Notability access [it’ll ask].
You should see a message stating that your notes will be backed up in PDF format. Click OK, but that is NOT what we want.
Next to the Google Drive button you should see a gear icon. Click it.
Change the File Format to NOTE. That way you’ll be able to re-import them into Notability if needed.
Click back out of the settings menu.
Wait a while. Make sure your notes have been backed up by switching to your Google Drive and peek inside the Notability folder.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE PDF COPIES of your notes, do this:
Go back to the first/main/opening screen in Notability.
Click the “All Notes” bar, at the top.
Click the EXPORT button, top left. It looks like a rectangle with an arrow coming OUT of it.
Click the “All Notes” bar again. All the notes should highlight and have checkmarks on them.
Click the Export button again.
Select where you want to send them – email or Google Drive. I suggest Google Drive!
So click on Google Drive.
Set the folder where you want to save them – I suggest the Notability folder.
The formats: Choose PDF.
Paper – YES if you want the backgrounds to match the notes. NO if you want a white background.
Recordings: YES if you want the audio to be exported as well….if you have any notes with audio.
Click the “SEND TO GOOGLE DRIVE” button.
Wait a while. If you are at home and have a lot of notes, wait a LONG while.
As we approach One-to-One status, several have asked the iPad guy about picking up keyboards and styluses for use with their iPads next year.
Although we haven’t done tons of research [and would welcome emails from anyone who has experience with these things], MDStech does know 2 things:
Selection of the hardware is VERY personal. Some styluses we’ve tried were abysmal, some were great, and everyone’s opinion on which was which varied greatly.
Cheap hardware is NOT worth the money.
Here are a couple of articles reviewing keyboards. remember that you would have to purchase a keyboard that is NOT attached to a case – you will NOT want to pull the iPad from the Griffin Survivor provided.
