{"id":386,"date":"2014-10-14T08:58:32","date_gmt":"2014-10-14T13:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tech2.mountdesales.net\/?p=386"},"modified":"2017-01-05T12:39:29","modified_gmt":"2017-01-05T17:39:29","slug":"after-your-ipad-was-wiped-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tech.mountdesales.net\/?p=386","title":{"rendered":"After your iPad was wiped out&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>[January 2017 update]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes your iPad has to be wiped clean of all your data&#8230;.here is a list of everything you need to make sure everything gets setup and recovered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DO NOT SET ANYTHING UP\u00a0<\/strong><strong>UNTIL YOU HAVE READ\u00a0THE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">AppleID\/iCloud<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Google Drive<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Email<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Notability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Other Accounts<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Kindle, iBooks, eTexts [<em>may not apply to everyone<\/em>]<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>AppleID\/iCloud<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Settings &#8211;&gt; iCloud<\/li>\n<li>do NOT create a new AppleID &#8211; just sign in to the existing one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>\u00a0Google Drive<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Fire up the app and login.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>\u00a0Email<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Settings &#8211;&gt; Mail\/Contacts\/Calendars<\/li>\n<li>Add Account \u00a0 \u00a0&gt;<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>GMAIL<\/strong> account<\/li>\n<li>Type in your info.<\/li>\n<li>Email Address is your FULL email address, including the mountdesales.net part<\/li>\n<li>For <em>Description<\/em>\u00a0don&#8217;t leave it at the default. \u00a0I suggest <strong>MDS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click NEXT<\/li>\n<li>If you get 4 checkmarks, go to the next step.<\/li>\n<li>If there&#8217;s a problem, doublecheck your typing. It is very common to misspell mountdesales.net, to add an extra space at the beginning or end, or to mistype your password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>\u00a0Notability<\/h4>\n<p>This is a bit tricky, so pay attention!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fire up Notability. <em>All of your notes are gone &#8211; but you have a backup on Drive, right?\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Setup your Dividers and Subjects [also known as the lines and folders] in Notability. Remember you should have a &#8220;Divider&#8221; for each class, and several &#8220;Subject&#8221; folders inside each divider. The exact list will change depending on the class.<\/li>\n<li>CAN&#8217;T REMEMBER WHAT FOLDERS TO SETUP?<br \/>\n\u2022 Fire up the Drive app.<br \/>\n\u2022 Navigate to the folder &#8220;Notability&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2022 You should see a bunch of folders there &#8211; each folder in Drive = a folder in Notability&#8230;. but the Dividers don&#8217;t exist in Drive, so I hope your\u00a0folder titles give you a clue to what&#8217;s inside.<br \/>\n\u2022 Write down what folders you&#8217;ll need, and inside which Divider\/Class<\/li>\n<li>Get to the main screen in Notability [<em>the Library<\/em>].<\/li>\n<li>Setup the\u00a0connection between Drive and Notability by clicking on the gear icon [bottom left] &#8211;&gt;Manage Accounts, and click the LOGIN button next to Google Drive. <strong>DON&#8217;T SETUP AutoBackup yet!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Exit out of Settings.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll have to download your backups one folder at a time<\/li>\n<li>In Notability, select a folder to start and click it.<\/li>\n<li>Then click the IMPORT button [<em>looks like a rectangle with an arrow point INTO it<\/em>].<\/li>\n<li>Click Google Drive<\/li>\n<li>Click the folder you want to import. You should see a list of docs inside.<\/li>\n<li>At the top right is a link that says &#8220;<strong>Import <em>foldername<\/em><\/strong>&#8220;. Click it.<\/li>\n<li>All the documents in that Drive folder should import into the Notability folder you selected.<\/li>\n<li>NEXT, select a different notability folder, then download the documents from Drive&#8230;. keep downloading until you get all of them you need.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NOW, setup autobackup.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Get to the Library\/opening screen,<\/li>\n<li>click the Gear icon on bottom left,<\/li>\n<li>click Auto-Backup,<\/li>\n<li>then Google Drive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Other<\/h4>\n<p>You&#8217;ll also have to setup any other app accounts [eTexts, kindle, ibooks, etc]<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>\u00a0iBooks [optional for most students]<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Some students will want to setup an account for iBooks, for a variety of reasons. MOST of the time you&#8217;ll want to use your PERSONAL AppleID [not your school one].<\/li>\n<li>Settings &#8211;&gt; iTunes &amp; App Store<\/li>\n<li>If you already have a personal AppleID, then use it.<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t, you COULD use your school one, but remember that any material connected to that AppleID will disappear once you leave this fine institution.<br \/>\n\u2022&#8230;. or you could create a new AppleID using your personal email address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[January 2017 update] Sometimes your iPad has to be wiped clean of all your data&#8230;.here is a list of everything you need to make sure everything gets setup and recovered.
