Here are 8 tips for stretching out your iPad battery life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Use Dark Mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Check Battery usage per app<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Turn on Low Power Mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Disable Background refresh<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Use 80% charging<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Set a quicker auto-lock<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Turn off Auto Brightness<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Power off more often<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    USE DARK MODE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This can have a slight effect on battery life due to being less bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    CHECK BATTERY USAGE PER APP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Settings –> Battery, the click the “Battery usage by app” tab. Look at the stats and change how you use the device to stretch out your battery life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    TURN ON LOW POWER MODE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Settings –> Battery –> Low Power Mode. This turns off a lot of background activity, slows down screen refresh rate, and dims the display somewhat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    DISABLE BACKGROUND REFRESH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This is a feature that allows apps to refresh data in the background, even if you did not start them up. [Mail would be an example.] You can select WHICH apps can background refresh by going to Settings –> General –> Background Refresh.

    You can turn it off globally with the slider at the top, but that would make using your iPad really inconvenient at school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SET A QUICKER AUTO-LOCK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    That way the device will lock and the screen turn off sooner when you are not using it. There is a balance to be had here, though – it is really annoying to have the screen lock when all you were doing was thinking about the next sentence to type in that paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    TURN OFF AUTO-BRIGHTNESS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Settings –> Accessibility –> Display & Text Size. The iPad will automatically match the display brightness based on the ambient light – convenient for sure, but it can cause drain on the battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    POWER OFF MORE OFTEN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If the device if OFF, then it is not draining the battery. It is a good idea to power it down about once a week anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
