On the other hand,  naming it &#8220;<em>Verbage I couldn&#8217;t stand creating<\/em>&#8221; will cost you time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you create your folders, click-n-drag your files into the correct folders. For example, ONE folder called &#8220;English Papers&#8221; might be enough &#8211; you may NOT need &#8220;English Paper 1&#8221;, &#8220;English paper 2&#8221;, &#8220;English Paper 3&#8221; etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about what will make it EASY to find your stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>2.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Name your files!<\/strong> DON&#8217;T leave them at the default &#8220;<em>Untitled Document<\/em>&#8220;. Name it something so that anyone with half-a-brain can tell what that document is about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>3.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Making major changes?<\/strong> Make a copy, then add something at the end of the filename [&#8220;<em>v2<\/em>&#8220;, &#8220;<em>v3<\/em>&#8220;, etc.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are working on a document, select File&#8211;> Save As Copy&#8230;.. When working in Drive, you can right-click on the file icon and select &#8220;Duplicate this file&#8221;. Then right-click the copy and &#8220;Rename&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seriously, it&#8217;s worth the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>4.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Got a deadline? <\/strong>Put the date in the filename, so you&#8217;ll always know when it&#8217;s due.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MDS Tech suggests using this format: &#8220;2019-10-22 English &#8211; Projectname&#8221;&#8230;.. but remember to use TWO digits for the months and days [09 for September, 06 for June, etc]. That will make it easier to find because of how the computer sorts things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>5.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THINK AHEAD!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How does your brain work? What scheme will make it easy for YOU to find your stuff? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key point is NOT to use a method that everyone else is using &#8211; although that might be a good start. The key is to make it easy for YOU to find your stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background has-large-font-size has-red-color has-light-brown-background-color\"><strong>&#8230;and a bonus tip:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>START EARLY, AND START NOW<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is FAR easier and takes MUCH less time to organize a few files than to organize a gazillion &#8211; which you might have in your Drive space by the time you are a Senior.
